Steven Van Zandt will miss a few upcoming Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concerts after the guitarist underwent successful surgery for appendicitis. “Got a sharp pain in my stomach, thought it was food poisoning, turned out to be appendicitis,” Van Zandt wrote in an Instagram post on Monday (June 23). “Got lucky with an exceptional hospital in San Sebastian. Operation was a complete success and I’m hoping to get back on stage for at least one of the shows in Milan. Thank you all for all the good vibes. See you soon.” Springsteen and guitarist Nils Lofgren will cover for Van Zandt during the upcoming shows on the Land Of Hope And Dreams Tour, which hit San Sebastián, Spain on Tuesday (June 24), followed by scheduled dates in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Friday (June 27), and a two-night stand in Milan, Italy on June 30 and July 3, which finishes out the European leg of the tour.
